CRT 2020 Highlights publication: Swati Mukherjee, MD, discussed gender-specific issues in coronary artery disease. She cited a recently published study showing that only one-third of revascularization patients (either with percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary artery bypass grafting) are women, and that the percentage has fallen over time. Another study shows that door-to-balloon time is more than 10 minutes longer for women than for men, and women are less likely to receive evidence-based treatment than men.
