Interventional cardiologist specialising in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) using transradial approach, adjunctive antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy and heart disease in women.
She has special interest in myocardial infarction secondary to conditions unique to women or seen more often in women, such as Sub Acute Coronary Dissection (SCAD),and Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.
Dr Mukherjee recognises the responsibility of being one of less than 20 female interventional cardiologists in Australia and New Zealand. An important part of her research is on identifying the differences in coronary artery disease symptoms and treatment between men and women which would lead to better CVD outcomes in women.
She has presented her research at global platforms and has participated in numerous clinical research projects. She speaks internationally on increasing awareness on Women’s Cardiovascular issues and gender equity for Women Cardiologists and Physicians.
Dr Sugumar is a specialist Cardiologist / Electrophysiologist with expertise in the management of people with heart rhythm disorders such as AF, SVT and in the management of implantable cardiac devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators.
He has a multi modal approach to the management of heart rhythm disorders including lifestyle interventions, medications, catheter ablation and device implantation.
Dr Sugumar sub-specialised in electrophysiology (EP) and cardiac devices from 2015 to 2019, including catheter ablation for AF, SVT and expert device implantations such as cardiac re-synchronisation therapy locally in Melbourne (Austin health, Alfred health, Royal Melbourne Hospital) and internationally through the University of British Columbia EP program in Canada.
His research interests include Atrial Fibrillation (AF) ablation and the impact of AF in heart failure (reduced ejection fraction and preserved ejection fraction) and impact of gender in AF.
He is very approachable and a patient centred approach to his care.

Dr. David Chieng is a distinguished specialist in cardiac arrhythmia ablation and cardiac device implantation. He has accumulated vast expertise in his field through a rigorous four-year clinical fellowship in electrophysiology and pacing at two renowned institutions, the Alfred Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital. His training has equipped him with a wealth of knowledge and practical skills for the treatment of complex cardiac conditions.
In addition to his clinical prowess, Dr. Chieng has made significant strides in cardiology research. His substantive work includes a recently completed PhD titled “Optimising patient outcomes in atrial fibrillation catheter ablation”. This study was made possible through the combined support of the NHMRC/National Heart Foundation postgraduate research scholarships and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute Bright Sparks scholarship.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Chieng served as the principal investigator for several randomized clinical studies (CAPLA, HiLo-HEAT, STALL HFpEF) and has been recognized with ten young investigator awards, including the prestigious Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society Young Investigator Award (2021) and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute Paul Korner Medal for outstanding PhD achievements (2021). His dedication to both patient care and research makes Dr. David Chieng a respected figure in the field of electrophysiology.
