Dr. David Chieng is a distinguished specialist in cardiac arrhythmia ablation and cardiac device implantation. He has accumulated vast expertise in his field through a rigorous four-year clinical fellowship in electrophysiology and pacing at two renowned institutions, the Alfred Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital. His training has equipped him with a wealth of knowledge and practical skills for the treatment of complex cardiac conditions.
In addition to his clinical prowess, Dr. Chieng has made significant strides in cardiology research. His substantive work includes a recently completed PhD titled “Optimising patient outcomes in atrial fibrillation catheter ablation”. This study was made possible through the combined support of the NHMRC/National Heart Foundation postgraduate research scholarships and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute Bright Sparks scholarship.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Chieng served as the principal investigator for several randomized clinical studies (CAPLA, HiLo-HEAT, STALL HFpEF) and has been recognized with ten young investigator awards, including the prestigious Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society Young Investigator Award (2021) and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute Paul Korner Medal for outstanding PhD achievements (2021). His dedication to both patient care and research makes Dr. David Chieng a respected figure in the field of electrophysiology.
